CONFERENCE WITH SUPERINTENDENT

My superintendent, Trish Elliott, and I originally met to discuss my Internship Plan during the Mid-Winter Conference. During the evening of January 31st we discussed the 38 activities, my areas of focus, and the needs of our district. We reviewed the suggested activities in the textbook, along with my personal needs and the needs of the district, and selected projects that would meet each of these needs. She and I worked very closely to make my learning experience very relevant through the real needs of the district.

After putting the plan together, sharing it online with the cohort members, and revising it based on their input, I met again with my superintendent to review the final product. Mrs. Elliott and I met after school on February 16th in my office and again went through the plan based on the needs of the district. In examining the scope of the activities we chose, we realized that we were very zealous in our original selection. We decided together that to accomplish everything on my initial plan, I would have little time left for anything else. In some cases, we had actually selected three or four projects for one activity. Consequently, we prioritized the projects and deleted some that were not as critical prior to next fall.

Mrs. Elliott has been extremely supportive throughout this whole process, allowing me the flexibility to focus on areas of interest to me. She is allowing me the opportunity to complete projects that are really outside my job responsibilities but that will be beneficial in my understanding of the various roles of a superintendent. In addition, she has continued to give me increased responsibilities in my job, allowing me opportunities to work more closely with principals and campuses. These experiences will be immeasurable in my future career endeavors.
